Kingston High graduate Justin Robinson earned his biggest postseason honor when he was the nation’s top midmajor basketball player with the announcement of the Lou Henson National Player of the Year.

The Monmouth University senior was also named a Lou Henson All American as well as a Lute Olson All-American, which is given to the country’s top players.

Robinson is the only player from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) to make either the Henson or Olson list.

The 2013 Freeman Player of the Year had also recently made the AP All-America honorable mention for a second consecutive year.

Robinson led the MAAC in scoring and finished averaging 19.7 points per game. He also led Monmouth in assists (4.8) and 3-point field goals (34).

Two weeks ago, he was named the ECAC Player of the Year.

That accolade adds to his collection as the MAAC Player of the Year for a second straight season. He was also All-MAAC First team and made the conference’s All-Tournament Team. He was also chosen to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District and the U.S. Basketball Writers (USBWA) All-District II Team.

Monmouth finished 27-7 overall, losing in the MAAC semifinals to Siena and to Ole Miss in the first round of the NIT.

It was with a 3-pointer late in the second half against Ole Miss that Robinson became the second 2,000-point scorer for Monmouth and the first since it became a Division I program.

Robinson finished his career at Monmouth in the top five in scoring (2,003 points), assists (497), steals (211), field goals made (635), 3-pointers (205) and minutes played (4,002).

Now Robinson awaits the NBA Draft on June 22. Howard Megdal of cbssports.com had listed the shooting guard 62nd in a list of the top 75 prospects for the draft back on March 22.
