Susan McCarthy of Napanoch

-

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, Susan McCarthy, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many, fell asleep peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Affectionately called “Grandma Sue” by her grandchildren, she is survived by her mother, Kathleen “Patricia” McCarthy; son, Jason McCarthy and his children Peyton and Connor; daughter, Erin (Don) VanDemark and their children Seth, Ethan and Aiden; sisters, Ruby (Rick) Stopard, Cindy Wilhelm; brother, Kevin McCarthy (Stacy); and several nephews and a niece.

She joins her father, Ronald G.; brother, Ronald J.; and sister, Peggy, waiting for the return of her Lord Jesus Christ for the Kingdom to come.

Susan was loved, supported, and encouraged by her many close friends that she cherished and held very close to her heart.

Susan was defined by her strengths. A believer in faith, she found purpose in God and in her family, living a beautiful life filled with love. She loved animals of all kinds, and picked up a number of hobbies in her life, including ceramics, bowling and reading. She leaves behind countless memories for her family and friends to look back on, of dancing, laughing and celebrating the many blessings from God in life.

Her strength and conviction, and her will to fight was only surpassed by the love she felt and shared for her children and grandchildren. She selflessly and relentlessly expressed her affection for those she loved, until the day she left us. From her days as a Girl Scout leader to days spent watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, she spent her proudest moments praising the accomplishments and achievements of her loved ones, no matter how big or how small.

She was a dedicated member to the United States Postal Service for close to two decades and dedicated her time to home Bible fellowships. Susan’s kind demeanor impacted every life she touched and she will be deeply missed by many.

Visiting will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
