Collins, VanPelt named KHS Athletes of Month
Football and Boys lacrosse player Peter Collins and softball and field hockey player Angela VanPelt have been named Kingston High’s Athletes of the Month for March.

Collins, an All-American in lacrosse last year as a junior, is maintaining a 92.7 grade point average while managing a course load that includes AP Economics, AP Physics, College Calculus, College Statistics and College Spanish. A member of the National Honor Society, Lacrosse Club and Varsity Club, he will be majoring in Sports Management at Limestone College in South Carolina. A volunteer firefighter with the Hurley Fire Department with certifications in Fire Scene Support, CPR/AED and first aid, Collins also gives back in other ways. He was involved in a project to build a playground for autistic children and the Play for Your Freedom program to rehabilate war veterans through athletics. VanPelt, softball and field hockey player, has a 96.4 GPA while tackling AP Economics, AP Government and Politics plus AP Calculus BC, She plans to double major in Communications and Political Science and also play softball at SUNY Geneseo. She’s also Vice President for both the French Honor Society and KHS Softball Club and a member of the National Honor Society, Model United Nations, International Relations Club and the KHS Tiger Marching Band. In her spare time, VanPelt is a sports reporter for KHS-TV.
