James A. Feth Sr., 85, of High Falls, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1932, in Montclair, N.J., a son of the late Otto A. and Winifred James Feth.

Jim lived in High Falls most of his life. He was a system analyst, employed 37 years at IBM in Kingston, and was a member of its Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the High Falls Community Church, a life member of the High Falls Fire Co., and life member of Cyprus Lodge No. 10. Jim also served as a scoutmaste­r for B.S.A. Troop 16 in Stone Ridge and served as a camp host at Assateague State Park in Maryland for more than 20 years. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served in the 2nd Division 773 Tank Battalion. Years ago, Jim was active with his father, operating the O.A. Feth and Son lawn and garden shop in High Falls. Jim always enjoyed family and friends. He kept in touch with old friends from IBM and always enjoyed reminiscin­g with friends at the Stewart’s Shop in Rosendale.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jessica Hartley Siroido Feth, whom he married June 26, 1954, at the First Presbyteri­an Church in Englewood, N.J. He was the loving father to James A. Feth Jr. of High Falls, John H. Feth of Cotton, Minn., Susan E. Eaves of Accord, Amy W. Matthews of Duluth, Minn., and was the dear brother of Florence Thuot of Deland, Fla. He is also survived by 16 loved grandchild­ren and 20 loved great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. At 7 p.m., American Legion Post 1219 will conduct Military Honors in recognitio­n for his service to his country. The Rev. Aaron Schulte will than officiate his funeral service.
