Hospital hosts workshop on mental agility, recall
Tai chi class starts April 11 in Ellenville
A tai chi class to aid people with arthritis will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. for eight weeks starting Tuesday, April 11, at Ellenville Public Library, 40 The benefits of tai chi include increased strength, improved balance and posture and fall prevention. It also reduces stress and supports relaxation.
The Ulster County Office for the Aging asks that those interested in the class be willing to make the commitment to be at the class twice a week for all eight weeks. This is a program that builds on each class.

Northern Dutchess Hospital’s Spring Wellness Series opens Monday, April 17, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with a workshop titled “Train Your Brain: Improving Your Mental Agility and Recall.”
The workshop will take place in the Cafeteria Conference Room at the hospital, 6511 Spring Brook Ave.
The workshop will be presented by memory coach Brent Sverdloff. It will help participants better remember people’s names and get them to think faster, increase their mental agility and enhance their social connectedness. Learn why “flexing your memory” is as vital to your health as proper diet, exercise and rest.

Senior groups list meeting schedules The Sawkill Seniors will meet Wednesday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at the Kingston Town Hall, 906 Sawkill Road.
The guest speaker will be a retired tugboat captain.
Monthly meetings take place on the second Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. The meetings begin with a guest speaker and formal format, followed by a raffle, socializing and refreshments. There is also a card game for those who wish to participate. New members are welcome.
The Town of Ulster Senior Club will meet Thursday, April 13, at the Town of Ulster Senior Center, 1 Town Hall Drive.
Refreshments will be served at 12:30 p.m., with the meeting starting at 1 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum. He will be discussing his programs for senior citizens and provide information on scams to watch out for.
The club’s meetings are a time for friendship, socialization and the sharing of ideas. New members are always welcome.
After the meetings, those who wish to stay can play bingo.
The Town of Esopus Seniors will meet Monday, April 17, in the Community Center at Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 207 Albany Ave., Kingston will have a Palm Sunday on April 9 at 10 a.m., with choral Eucharist and liturgy of the palms.
