Igoe 2-hitter lifts Saugerties to victory

Brett Igoe threw a two-hit shutout for Saugerties High, blanking Red Hook 10-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League baseball game.

Igoe issued just three walks and singles by Eric Decker and James Flood in the complete-game effort.

The Sawyers pulled away late, scoring twice in the fifth inning, four in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Seth Vanderbeck had a single, double, three RBI and scored twice for Saugerties. Evan Norman singled twice and Nick Dennis and Randy Dodig also had hits. All three scored. Rhinebeck 12, Ellenville 4

At Rhinebeck, the (6-1 MHAL, 8-1 overall) Hawks rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to win. They scored twice in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third and six in the fourth.

Matt Denatale (two singles, triple, four RBI), Sam Ulrich (two singles, three RBI), Matt Martin (single, RBI, three runs) and eighth-grader Brandan Hines (single, two RBI, two runs) paced Rhinebeck.

Lex Kronbichle­r, 3-0, went five innings for the win. Wallkill 9, Highland 6

At Highland, Kyle Hewitt had two singles, a double and one RBI and Justin Dunikowski and Mike Bowers each had two hits to lead Wallkill.

Frank Alfonso drove in four runs with three singles, Dylan Warren had a RBI double, Nik Turner singled twice and Isiah Daubon had two hits and a RBI to pace Highland. Chester 2, Marlboro 1

At Chester, the Hambletoni­ans held off (7-5) Marlboro in a non-league game.

Hayden Toussaint doubled, Sam Mongelli had two hits and Brendan Mahusky hit a RBI single in the fourth for the Dukes. Mike Paolo took the loss despite yielding only five singles in a sixinning performanc­e.
