Plant sale at hospital on May 10, 11

WHAT: Plant sale WHEN: May 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Lobby of Northern Dutchess Hospital, 6511 Springbroo­k Ave., Rhinebeck

DETAILS: The hospital will host a Mother’s Day plant sale to benefit it and its affiliated skilled nursing facility. Plants will also be for sale on May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the lobby of Thompson House, 6525 Springbroo­k Ave., Rhinebeck. Flowers, vegetables and herbs such as mint and parsley will be sold. Hanging flower baskets, individual potted flowers and containers can be bought. Cash and checks will be accepted.

Rhinebeck gallery offers Celebrity Series events

WHAT: Hudson Valley Celebrity Series events

WHEN: May 11 at 7 p.m. and May 25 at 7 p.m.

WHERE: The Gallery@ Rhinebeck, 47 E. Market St., Rhinebeck

DETAILS: The Gallery@ Rhinebeck will continue its Hudson Valley Celebrity Series with photograph­er Elliott Landy on May 11 and Nobel Peace Prize nominee David Ives on May 25. Landy, the official photograph­er for the 1969 Woodstock festival, has documented rock ‘n’ roll history throughout his career. His portfolio includes photos of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Joan Baez. Ives, executive director of the Albert Schweitzer Institute at Quinnipiac University, won an Emmy award for his documentar­y, “My Life is My Argument,” and is wellknown for his vast work on a number of peacekeepi­ng initiative­s around the world, Admission for each event is $15 per person.

Art center hosts event for preschool children

WHAT: Storytime event for preschool children WHEN: May 19 at 1:30 p.m. WHERE: Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, 124 Raymond Ave., Poughkeeps­ie

DETAILS: The center will present the last of its artbased storytime events for preschool children ages 3 to 5. The program consists of a 45-minute session and is titled “Animals in Art.” The program will include stories, poems and a simple craft activity. Admission is free.

Clothing swap to benefit Sinterklaa­s on May 21

WHAT: Clothing swap WHEN: May 21 from noon to 4 p.m. WHERE: Rhinebeck Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 83 E. Market St., Rhinebeck DETAILS: The Eighth Annual “Love It or Swap It” Women’s Clothing Swap and Sale will benefit Sinterklaa­s. Items that will be swap are women’s clothes, jewelry accessorie­s, handbags and shoes. All items must be in very good condition and delivered on hangers. Attendees can swap the same number of items they bring, with a maximum of 20. Swap items can be dropped off on May 20 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall or they can be brought on the day of the event. There will also be a Sinterstor­e, featuring such items as designer clothes, accessorie­s, gifts, jewelry, Eileen Fisher and gift certificat­es. A new addition this year is home accessorie­s. In addition, there will be a raffle for a Marc Jacobs tote. Raffle tickets are $10 each or five for $40. Tickets can be bought online or at the swap.

Anderson Center golf tourney on June 15

WHAT: Benefit golf tourney WHEN: June 15, with registrati­on and breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and shotgun start at 9 a.m.

DETAILS: The Anderson Center for Autism will host its fundraisin­g Golf Classic. The cost is $175 per person and includes dinner, postgolf cocktails and raffles.
