Kingston rolls to win over Washington­ville

Angela Van Pelt pitched a five-hitter, guiding Kingston High to a 16-1 softball victory over Washington­ville.

Alyssa Villielm drove in four runs, Jessica Chilcott knocked in three and Angela Van Pelt pitched a five-hitter, guiding Kingston High to a 16-1 softball victory over Washington­ville.

Van Pelt struck out five, walked two and allowed just a third-inning run in her second outing in the circle this season.

Kaitlynn Schrowang doubled in a run in the second inning and the (6-3) Tigers put it out of reach with a six-run, two-out rally in the third.

“I told them after the second inning that we got to get our bats going,” Kingston coach Trishann Hayes said. “I guessed they listened.”

Chilcott made it 3-0 with a two-run single. After Schrowang

walked, Kingston got four consecutiv­e hits. Villielm singled up the middle to drive in one run, Lauren Shambo doubled to right center to score another, Shawna Smith went back up the middle for a RBI single,

then Van Pelt singled to drive in another to cap the rally.

Villielm later hit a tworun double in the fourth and a run-scoring single in the seventh.

Alyssa Finno singled twice, Shannon Bonewit singled and doubled, Chilcott added a triple and Van Pelt and Shambo both finished with two hits for the Tigers.
