Vasiliki Kakoullis, 88, of Kingston
Vasiliki Kakoullis, 88, of Kingston, N.Y., died peacefully Friday, May 5,2017, surrounded by her family in Clearwater, Fla.
She was born March 16, 1929 in the village of Chirokitia, Cyprus. A graduate of the American Academy, she came to the United States with her parents, George and Pantelou Joanides, when she was 16 years old. On Sept. 24, 1950 she married George Kakoullis Sr. She was a founding member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a member and officer of St. George’s Hellenic Women’s Club. She also spent many years assisting in the operation of the family restaurants. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and baking, and she was excellent at both. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were her greatest joy.
She was predeceased by George Sr., her husband of 65 years.
She is survived by her four children: James, George Jr., Penny and Elena; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Thrusday, May 11,2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home and proceed to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 294 Greenkill Ave., Kingston, where at 10 a.m. the service will be held. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
