Aurora Rose ‘Rory’ Decker, 3, of Kingston

-

Aurora Rose “Rory” Decker, 3, of Smith Avenue, Kingston, passed away while in the comforting presence of her family on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Albany Medical Center, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Rory was born on April 15, 2014, a daughter of Alexandra Rose Scileppi and Eric Lee Decker of Kingston. Rory brought light and love to everyone who knew her. Her smile and laughter were infectious as well as her overall love for life. She loved presents and her surprise eggs, and had an obsession for anything and everything cat related, especially her favorite stuffed baby “Brown Kitty.” Always ready with a kiss or hug for whoever needed it, her intuitive nature was simply amazing. Aurora taught all of us how to be brave and face even the worst situations with a smile. She was the light of her families lives and will always be remembered for her love of stickers and yellow flowers (dandelions). Aurora was and always will be loved more than the moon and more than the stars forever.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Peter and Mary Scileppi of Port Ewen; paternal grandparents, Wayne and MaryLou Decker of Kingston; maternal great-grandmother, Alice B. Scileppi of LaGrange; aunts and uncles, Sarah and Christopher Scileppi of Port Ewen, Wayne (Tiffany) Decker of Mohawk, N.Y., and Gregg (Ashlee Jones) Decker of Kingston; great-aunt, Nancy Stetler of Ulster Park; and cousins, Aiden, Adelina, and Asher, all of Mohawk, N.Y. Many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and her BFF Jaxson Decker also survive. She also leaves behind her beloved Loki.

The family will receive friends at Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m.

The funeral procession will form 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, thence to Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 209 Hoyt St., Port Ewen, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Pastor Carl D. Johnson, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston.
