Author talk, book signing at FDR site WHAT:

Author talk and book signing

WHEN: May 31 at 7 p.m. WHERE: Henry A. Wallace Center at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, 4079 Albany Post Road (Route 9), Hyde Park

DETAILS: David C. Scott will deliver a talk about his book, “My Fellow Americans: Scouting, Diversity, and the U.S. Presidency.” Founded early in the 20th century, the Boy Scouts of America championed the forging of a stronger national citizenry by molding the good character of idle youth. But it was not alone. Competition loomed from other organizations formed with similar objectives in mind. To escape the pack, Boy Scouts officials achieved a dramatic national publicity coup when President William Howard Taft gave the organization his personal endorsement and became its first honorary president. That began the Boy Scouts’ long symbiotic relationship with the presidency. Scott will sign copies of his book afterward. The event is free and open to the public.
