Robert W. Gioffi, ‘Bob the Barber,’ 83, of Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK >> Robert W. Gioffi, “Bob the Barber”, 83, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1933, in New Haven, Conn. Bob married Josephine DiRubbo in 1960 while living in Connecticu­t.

A longtime fixture in Rhinebeck, Bob was the owner and operator of the Sportsman Barbershop in the village of Rhinebeck. Well-known for his craft, Bob served generation­s of families throughout his career. He retired in 2009.

Bob was a faithful communican­t of Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck.

He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Gioffi of Rhinebeck; his daughter, Lucy Jacqueline Wilson of Germantown; his sons, Alex Gioffi of Rutland, Vt., and Paul (Kristina) Gioffi of Moscow, Russia; his grandchild­ren, Justin, Gregory, and Brian Wilson, and Mitchell, Zachary, and Cody Gioffi; along with his great-grandson, Thomas Wilson; and countless friends.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 91 E. Market St. in Rhinebeck, on Friday, May 19, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck, N.Y. Fr. Douglas Y. Crawford will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
