RHINEBECK >> Ronald Vitarius, 66, of Ferncliff Drive, Rhinebeck, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Ferncliff Nursing Home. Born July 30, 1950, in Kingston, N.Y., he was the son of the late Bela and Anna M. (Autorino) Vitarius.

Ronald was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1968. He worked as a bank appraiser for Vincent Lowe Realty. Previously, he had worked for his father as a carpenter and also as a short order cook at Lindy’s Restaurant. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, and water skiing, and his favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kay” (Mills) Vitarius; his stepdaught­er, Tricia McCloskey and her husband Shawn, and their children, Kevin and Julia; his stepson, Michael Groppuso and his wife Danielle and their children, Donte and Gavin; brother-in-law, Timothy Smythe Sr.; nephew, Timothy Smythe Jr.; and great-nephew, Jack Smythe. He was predecease­d by his sister, Linda Smythe, and brother, Bela “Butch” Vitarius.

Funeral and cremation arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y. (www.jvleahyfh. com) Memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral home service will take place at 7 p.m.
