Kingston Republicans nominate Common Council candidates
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Republicans have selected a slate of candidates to run for Kingston Common Council seats in the fall election.
Selected at a nominating convention Wednesday were:
• Ward 1: Michael Russell; seat currently held by Lynn Eckert, a Democrat.
• Ward 2: No candidate; seat currently held by Douglas Koop, a Democrat.
• Ward 3: Ellen DiFalco, a Democrat who was the confidential secretary to former Mayor Shayne Gallo; seat currently held by Rennie Scott-Childress, a Democrat who was appointed after the resignation of fellow Democrat Brad Will.
• Ward 4: No candidate; seat currently held by Nina Dawson, a Democrat.
• Ward 5: Terrell Mickens; seat currently held by William Carey, a Democrat.
• Ward 6: Anthony Davis, an incumbent Democrat. Davis, though, said on Thursday that he would not accept the GOP nomination.
• Ward 7: Patrick O’Reilly. The seat currently is held by Mary Ann Mills, a Democrat, but she announced Thursday that she won’t seek re-election.
• Ward 8: Jim Rodden; seat currently held by Steve Schabot, a Democrat, who is being challenged for his party’s nomination by Rodden and Cassandra Burke.
• Ward 9: Deborah Brown, a Republican incumbent.
