Mid-Hudson business people ‘On the Move’
Lorraine Lopez-Janove, of Woodridge, N.Y., has been hired to jointly serve as the chief diversity officer for SUNY Orange, SUNY Sullivan and SUNY Ulster.
She will begin her new duties on Sept. 5 and will report to the three presidents as part of a shared leadership arrangement developed by the colleges in response to a State University of New York initiative to expand and strengthen diversity and inclusiveness at each of the system’s 64 campuses.
Lopez-Janove has been the executive director of human rights for Sullivan County since April 2016.
Prior to joining the Sullivan County staff, Lopez-Janove spent 25 years in education as teacher, program manager and administrator. She was a senior project associate at the Technical Assistance Center on Disproportionality at New York University from 2010-2016, where she worked more than 60 state schools cited for disproportionality of minorities in special education and/or suspension. Her role was to help the districts develop culturally responsive policies, practices, administrators and curriculum. From 2006-2010, she was program manager of the state’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers, providing regulatory guidance, technical assistance and professional development to teachers and administrators in more than 165 centers across the state.
She also English as a second language, GED and computer classes at Orange-Ulster BOCES for 14 years and spent one year as an elementary school teacher in the Fallsburg Central School District.
She is a graduate of Marist College, with a bachelor’s degree in human services (minor in public administration) and a master’s degree in public administration. Lopez-Janove also has a state secondary teaching certification in business and marketing.
••• Dr. Barry Goldman and family nurse practitioner Michele “Mickey” Goldman, of New Paltz, have joined Division of Primary Care of Health Quest Medical Practice, in New Paltz.
Previously, Barry Goldman established an independent practice of family medicine, Goldman Family Medicine, in New Paltz. He has also been affiliated with the Wallkill Central School District as a school physician since 1989 and continues to serve the district. Past work experience includes serving as an active member of the medical staff for Kingston Hospital and Benedictine Hospital, in Kingston, as well as Woodland Pond Skilled Nursing Facility, in New Paltz.
He completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University in Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla. He continued his education with a residency in family medicine at the Kingston Family Health Center in Kingston.
Prior to joining Health Quest, Michele Goldman served as the practice administrator and family nurse practitioner at Goldman Family Medicine. Her responsibilities involved managing the family practice office, including staff development and human resources.
Previously, she was a nurse practitioner at the Woodland Pond Skilled Nursing Facility and a clinical nursing instructor at Ulster County Community College in Stone Ridge.
She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Excelsior College, formerly known as the University of the State of New York Regents College, in Albany. She earned her master’s degree in nursing and family nurse practitioner from Stony Brook University.
••• Michele Rizzi, of Highland, has been hired as home loan consultant for Valley National Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp. From an office in Fishkill, she will work within the Hudson Valley.
Rizzi is a Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist and a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking. She is a member of the Ulster County Board of Realtors, the Dutchess County Board of Realtors, and the Women’s Council of Realtors.
Valley National Bancorp is a regional bank holding company headquartered in Wayne, N.J.
