Gloria Soper, 95, passed away peacefully at her Riverview home on May 29, 2017. She was born in New York City, and moved to Accord, N.Y., before retiring to Riverview, Fla.

She was predecease­d by husbands Christophe­r Starling and LeRoy Soper; parents, Mary and Leon Guillon; sister and husband, Rena and Gus DiMeo; and brother, Leon Guillon Jr.

She is survived by stepchildr­en Patricia Soper and Lee Soper; sister-inlaw, Shirley Guillon; nieces Rena Stank, Celia Silberman, Paula Gribulis; and nephews, Darwin Guillon and Leon Guillon.

She was employed by the Rondout Valley School District in 1958 as secretary in the Kerhonkson K-12 school, transferre­d to the new high school in 1960, and retired in 1985. She then served as tax collector for the school district. Throughout her long career, she was active in numerous profession­al and social organizati­ons, including serving as president of New York State Division of Profession­al Secretarie­s Internatio­nal and secretary to the Kingston Chapter of AARP. She also volunteere­d at the Kingston, N.Y., Hospital and in the office of Senior Friends at Brandon Hospital in Florida. She was loved and respected by all her knew her. Her humor and quick wit made her fun to be with. She was a lifelong sports fan and loved her flowers. She enjoyed her Florida lunches and her many shopping excursions with friends. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her. She will be interred at Hurley Cemetery on June 24, 2017, at 11 a.m.
