- Freeman staff

Hudson Valley Farmhouse Cider recently received medals for several of its ciders during the Royal Bath & West International Cider Competition in Somerset, England.

In the Traditional cider category, Hudson Valley Farmhouse Cider’s God Speed the Plough and Traditional ciders were awarded silver and bronze medals, respectively. The Maeve’s Hudson Valley Cider received a bronze medal in the New World Cider category and The Last Blacksmith brought home a silver medal in the Bottle Fermented and Keeved Cider category.

Hudson Valley Farmhouse Cider was founded in 1996 by cider-master Elizabeth Ryan at her original orchard, Breezy Hill, near Rhinebeck.

With a degree in pomology from Cornell University and the study of cider making in Somerset and Hereford, England, Ryan has been making cider since the early 1980s. The result is a collection of ciders in the traditional style featuring a new world flavor profile.

The ciders will be available for tasting and buying at a pop-up tasting room and cider bar at the Shadow Lawn Event Space, 2233 Lucas Turnpike, High Falls, from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 18. Light, locally sourced fare will also be available.
