Kingston’s Hines, FDR’s Trainor shine at Nationals
GREENSBORO, N.C. » Kingston High’s Jayson Hines set a school record and Roosevelt’s Sarah Trainor earned All-American honors at the New Balance Outdoor National track and field meet at North Carolina A&T’s Aggie Stadium.
In his final appearance representing the Tigers, Hines set the school mark in the 2000-meter steeplechase. The senior ran a 6:05.07, placing seventh in his heat and eighth overall.
Hines, Robert Becker and Andy and Lucas Lopez competed in the Emerging Elite 3200 relay, taking 15th with a 7:58.77.
Trainor, a freshman, earned All-America status when she ran a fourth-place 6:52.07 in the girls 2000 steeplechase. She was representing the Fireside Track Club.
