Renegades’ home opener on Wednesday

Hudson Valley to host Staten Island in Class A NYPL contest Wednesday at Dutchess Stadium

FISHKILL, N.Y. » The Hudson Valley Renegades open their Class A New York-Penn League baseball campaign at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at home against the Staten Island Yankees at Dutchess Stadium in the first of a three-game set.

The First 4,000 fans in attendance at Wednesday’s game receive a magnetic 2017 Renegades schedule, and all fans can enjoy the fireworks after the game.

Then the Renegades head to Coney Island in Brooklyn for a threegame set with the Cyclones, before they return on June 28 for a sixgame homestand that includes three-games each with the Lowell Spinners and the Aberdeen Iron Birds.

Craig Albernaz is manger this year, a veteran of the Rays and Tigers minor-league systems, playing as high as Triple-A.

He was promoted from hitting coach. Albernaz replaces Tim Parenton, who was Hudson Valley’s skipper the previous three seasons, and guided the Renegades to the McNamara Division crown in 2014.

ing coach, while Alejandro Freire is this year’s hitting coach.

This year’s pitching staff consists of Jose Disla, Austin Franklin, Garret Fulenchek, Reign Letkeman, Resly Linares, Sam Long, Hector Lopez, Greg Maisto, Nick Padilla, Eduard Rosillo, Jhonleide Salinas, Hunter Schryver, Dylan Thompson, Mikey York and Matt Vogel.

Position players include catchers Zac Law, Rafelin Lorenzo and Jean Ramirez, Bobby Melley at first, Vidal Brujan at second, third baseman Matt Dacey and utility infielders Bill Pujols, Matt Eureste and Deion Tansel. Outfielder­s include Isaac Bernard, Emilio Gustave, Angel Perez and Oscar Rojas.

This year’s New York Penn League All Star Game will be held at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy on August 15.

There are promotions for nearly every home game.
