-

Ronald R. Segnini Sr., 70, of Bonnie View Avenue, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at Kingston Hospital, after a brief battle with leukemia.

He was born April 11, 1947, in Margaretville, son of the late Romeo Segnini, and Doris Sprague Segnini Coss. A native, and lifelong Catskill Mountain’s resident, he was a heavy equipment operator for the Ulster County Highway Department for over 25 years. Upon his retirement, he worked as a lift operator at Belleayre Ski Center. He worked on the farm as a child, and even at the age of 70, he was caring for the rescue animals at the Mighty-Fine Farm. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, caring for the animals, and taking motorcycle rides through the mountains. He was a gifted mechanic and a jack-of-all-trades. Ron was an enthusiastic NASCAR and boxing fan. Most of all, the family remembers him for his gentle, quiet, and loving manner.

Surviving are his parents, Doris and Albert Coss of Margaretville; a son, Ronald (Kim) Segnini Jr. of Halcott Center; sister, Loretta Laine of Andes; two brothers, Lance of North Carolina, and Dodd Coss of Roxbury; two grandsons, Jacob and Mitchell Bugge; and a greatgranddaughter, Madison. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 1996.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Ron will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia. Burial will be in Shandaken Rural Cemetery, Route 28, Shandaken. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at E.B. Gormley Funeral Home. You may share a memory with the family on Ron’s Commemorative Page at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com.
