‘Forest bathing’ in Saugerties on July 1
WHAT: Forest bathing WHEN: Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
WHERE: Israel Wittman Preserve, 25 Old Sawmill Road, Saugerties
DETAILS: Enjoy a morning of the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing” as participants immerse the senses walking in a forest. Participants will explore the sights and sounds of the Israel Wittman Preserve on a slow, meditative hike through the woods that will improve your physical and mental wellbeing. This “First Saturdays on the Trail” event is capped at 25 people. Parking is limited; please carpool. In the case of heavy rain, this event will be canceled. Wear tick protection and comfortable hiking gear for moderate grade terrain.

Rondout National Historic Walking Tour on Saturday
WHAT: Rondout National Historic Walking Tour WHEN: 1 p.m. Saturday
WHERE: Departing from the Heritage Area Visitors Center, 20 Broadway.
DETAILS: Hear how immigrants and entrepreneurs transformed farmland into a thriving maritime village that mushroomed during the era when Rondout was the terminus for the Delaware and Hudson Canal that opened in 1828. Some uphill walking is involved. Fee: $10 adult; $5 child under 16. Free to Friends of Historic Kingston members. Offered the last Saturday of the month through October.
