KINGSTON » Louis J. Cella, 61, of Kingston, N.Y., passed away peacefully at Golden Hill Nursing Home on June 20, 2017, after a long illness. Louis was predecease­d by his parents, Mary (nee Tracy) and Louis Cella.

He is survived by his loving and care giving brother, Edward Cella of Kingston, N.Y., and his extended family, Kenneth and Sharon Gordon and their two daughters, Jenna and Ann of Tillson, N.Y.; and his devoted and loving Aunt Harriett Mahlau of the Bronx, N.Y. He leaves behind his best friend, James P. Murphy of Stone Ridge and his dear friend, Chickie Kilmer of Cottekill. He also is survived by his fur niece and nephew Princess and Chubs, who he loved very much.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Golden Hill on Unit A-3 as well as, Michelle Houghtalli­ng, C. Davis Sprague M.D., Raymond Harvey, M.D., and Mark Josefski, M.D.

Lou lived a varied life, from race cars to bartending to boxing, and last, but not least, as a youth, he sang at the Waldorf-Astoria for President Nixon, which he was very proud of.

Funeral and cremation arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y. (www.jvleahyfh. com) A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. Donations may be made to: Second Chance Farms, P.O. Box 153, West Park, N.Y. 12493; he believed in their hard and dedicated work towards cats and dogs. That is where his fur niece and nephew came from.
