» Katherine A. Cairo-Davis, 69, of Kripplebus­h, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Kingston on Sept. 1, 1947, to Richard O’Dell Stokes Sr., and Emily (nee Bevier) Stokes. Katherine attended the Clove Valley one-room school and graduated from Rondout Valley High School. Kathy, as known to most, will be remembered for her quick smile, infectious laugh and generous heart, as well as her 35-year tenure as the Town of Marbletown Town Clerk/Tax Collector, where she met and touched the lives of many town residents and visitors.

A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Kathy filled these last four years with the activities she enjoyed and felt important: fishing, baking, gardening, bird (and bear) watching, visiting with friends and family, traveling, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

She is survived by her husband, A.E. “Jerry” Davis; her daughter, Jennifer Cairo (Martin Vavra) of Oregon; stepsons, Christophe­r Davis (Julia) of Pennsylvan­ia, Patrick Davis (Bourbon) of N.Y., Shawn Davis (Jessica) of South Carolina; brother, Richard O. Stokes Jr. (Juliet) of New York; and sisters, Mary-Frances Jensen (Robert) of Wisconsin, and Jenifer Nerone (James) of New York. She is also survived by several grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert Richard Cairo.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m. at George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Her funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. following visitation. The Rev. Caroline Berninger, pastor of the Rondout Valley Methodist Church, will officiate.
