The following items are based on information provided by officials in law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
Athens
• DWAI: Maria F. Ciampa, 52, of Athens, was arrested by state police at Coxsackie at 10:20 p.m. Sunday on state Route 385 on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony, and three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors. She was also ticketed for speed in zone, failure to keep right and failure to dim lights. Also arrested was Melissa T. Mentessi, 39, of Athens, on four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a hypodermic instrument, all misdemeanors. Both women were held pending arraignment.
Catskill
• DWI: David Kornell, 55, of Haines Falls, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 11:20 a.m. Sunday on state Route 23A on a felony charge of drunken driving. He was held pending arraignment.
Lloyd
• Drugs: Evan R. Martensen, 21, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested by Lloyd town police on Friday and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Martensen was issued an appearance ticket for Lloyd Town Court.
• DWI: Michael S. Painter, 59, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested by Lloyd town police on Haviland Road in Highland Monday and was charged with drunken driving. Painter was released with an appearance ticket for Lloyd Town Court.
• Shoplifting: Jason R. Horaz, 34, of Newburgh, was arrested by Lloyd town police Friday and was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Horaz was accused of stealing about $150 worth of merchandise from the Hannaford Supermarket in Highland. He was issued an appearance ticket for Lloyd Town Court.
Plattekill
• DWI: Antwon A. Nelson Jr., 23, of the Bronx, was arrested Sunday on misdemeanor charges of aggravated drunken driving and drunken driving, and was ticketed for failure to maintain lane. Ulster County sheriff’s deputies said Nelson was arrested following a traffic stop on state Route 32 at about 5:15 a.m. He was released with tickets for Plattekill Town Court.
Town of Rochester
• DWI: Vincent A. Sanborn, 58, of Accord, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies Sunday on charges of drunken driving, a misdemeanor, and vehicle and traffic infractions. Deputies said they saw a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on U.S. Route 209 at about 12:25 a.m., and determined that Sanborn was driving while intoxicated. He was released with tickets for Rochester Town Court.
Wawarsing
• DWI: James P. Maldonado, 37, of Mount Vernon, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies Sunday on charges of drunken driving, a misdemeanor, and vehicle and traffic violations. Deputies said Maldonado was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 44⁄55 at about 3:30 a.m. after his vehicle was seen failing to maintain its lane. He was released with tickets to appear in Wawarsing Town Court.
• Contraband: Dennis Neal, 24, of the Bronx, was arrested by state police at Wawarsing at 7:27 p.m. June 27 at the Ulster Correctional Facility on a felony charge of possession of prison contraband. He was held pending arraignment.
• DWI: Theodore J. Bodnar, 51, of Bogota, N.J., was arrested by state police at Wawarsing at 11:12 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 209 on a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving. He was released with a ticket for Wawarsing Town Court.
Town of Ulster
• Theft: Janayah E. Abdulkhabir, 18, of Kingston, was arrested by Ulster town police at about 11 a.m. Saturday and was charged with four counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor. She was accused of stealing $675 from Walmart Superstore while employed there, police said.
• Shoplifting: Robin A. Secor, 34, of Kingston, and Calla L. Perkins, 23, of Ulster Park,were arrested by Ulster town police Thursday at about 9:33 p.m. and were each charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. The two were accused taking $378.89 worth of merchandise from the Walmart Superstore without paying for it, police said. Secor and Perkins were issued court appearance tickets, police said.
