Arthur George ‘Art’ Freer, 63, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Arthur George Freer, “Art,” 63, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2, 2017, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1953, in Kingston, N.Y., son of the late Edward and Agnes Kuchenreuther Freer.

Survivors include his wife of five years, Loren Sutton Freer; son, Brandon Freer of Kingston, N.Y.; daughter, Katrina Freer and her companion, Diego Caba of Kingston, N.Y.; stepchildren, Jennifer Quednau of Saugerties, N.Y., Gregg Sutton and his wife Lauren of Gardiner, N.Y., and Rachel Sutton of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Arya Caba of Kingston, N.Y., and Mason and Karsen Sutton of Gardiner, N.Y.; brother, Eduard Freer and his wife Melissa of Madison, Wis.; and sister, Rita Flaherty and husband Randy of Mingo Jct., Ohio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Art was a graduate of Kingston High School, later going on to receive his bachelor’s degree from SUNY New Paltz. He owned his own title business for many years in Kingston, N.Y. In 2010, Art met his soulmate, Loren, and they married in 2012 in Gardiner, N.Y., with all their family and friends witnessing the celebration. He most recently retired from Ulster Savings Bank in Kingston in 2014, and he and his wife retired to Myrtle Beach, where they spent hours on the beach, enjoying their new passion of hunting for shark’s teeth. They only had seven glorious years together and were robbed of so many more by the deadly disease of cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Art’s name to Grand Strand Humane Society, 3241 Mr. Joe White Avenue, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123. A Celebration of Life will be held in Myrtle Beach on July 15, 2017.
