TERESA BAUDENDIST­EL

Opposing teams hit just .146 against Ellenville’s senior pitcher. She posted a 13-4 record with a 1.79 ERA and 107 strikeouts for the Blue Devils. She batted .404 with 17 RBI. Baudendist­el finished her career with 124 hits and 112 RBI.

LAUREN SHAMBO

The sophomore pitcher was clutch down the stretch for Kingston’s Class AA champion squad. She posted a 6-2 record with a 1.85 ERA. Shambo tossed a five-hitter in the sectional final against Monroe-Woodbury. She batted .370 for the Tigers with three doubles and 10 RBI.

DREW BUGNA

The senior catcher had a .692 on-base percentage for Ellenville, thanks to the fact that few teams pitched to Bugna, who drew 22 walks. She led the Blue Devils with a .474 average and 27 RBI. Ellenville coach Bryan Bonitz called Bugna, “the most clutch player I have ever coached.” She finished with 110 career hits and 126 RBI.

KAITLYNN SCHROWANG

Kingston’s junior first baseman was the master of timely hitting. She had a seventhinn­ing game-winning hit over Monroe and an eighth-inning homer to beat Minisink Valley. Schrowang batted .356 for the Tigers with eight doubles, three triples, three homers and 26 RBI.

ALYSSA FINNO

The junior second baseman batted .370 for Kingston with 26 RBI and 20 runs scored. Finno hit second in the Tiger order, but also had power. She banged out seven doubles, two triples and three homers. She singled and drew two walks in the section final.

TAYLOR FELICELLO

The Marlboro senior shortstop ended her five-year varsity career with a standout campaign, raising her batting average more than a 100 points as she hit .512 with 42 hits, including 13 doubles, a triple and a home run. She moved from the outfield to anchor the defense at shortstop. Felicello also pitched, striking out 56.

SHANNON BONEWIT

The sophomore third baseman hit a steady .427 for Kingston. She had 32 hits, scored 26 runs and posted a .456 on-base percentage. Bonewit had 10 RBI, including a walk-off two-run single in the seventh to beat Middletown in the sectional semifinals. She also pitched, posting a 5-1 record with a 1.73 ERA.

MELONIE PAPULI

The sophomore had a incredible first varsity season for Marlboro. She hit .418 with 33 hits and scored 15 times. She struck out 82, threw a no-hitter and a pair of onehitters in helping to lead the Dukes to repeat as Section 9, Class B champions.

VICTORIA SORACE

Another one of Marlboro’s young up-and-coming talent, the sophomore was a great contact hitter, batting .456 with 36 hits, including four doubles and four triples, and scoring 24 runs. She drew 10 walks, struck out only 5 times and had an on-base percentage of .582.

HALEY STRANG

The sophomore cleanup hitter led Pine Plains with 41 RBI. Strang struck out just once and had a .959 slugging average as her 42 hits included four triples, three homers and a team-best 12 doubles. The center fielder has a cannon arm. She threw out four runners, including two in the regional final: one at the plate and another at third with a 230-foot strike on the fly.

JO SCHMIDT

Pine Plains’ sophomore shortstop batted .554 for the Bombers with 34 RBI. She posted a perfect slugging average of 1.000 as her 45 hits included eight doubles, four triples and three home runs. She struck out twice all season.
