Ulster Excavating walks off with Lower D victory

Ulster Excavating and Trucking walked off with two in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 15-14 victory over Chatters in a Kingston Recreation League Lower D Division men's softball contest.

Chatters went up 3-0 in the top of the second only for Ulster Excavating to answer back with 4 in the bottom frame to go up 4-3. Then with the score tied 4-4 in the fourth Chatters put up a four-spot to go up 8-4, Ulster Excavating answered back with two in the bottom frame only for Chatters to extend their lead to 10-6 in the top of the fifth.

But Ulster Excavating would explode for seven in the bottom frame to take a 13-10 lead before Chatters put up four in the sixth to go up 14-13.

Chatters couldn’t extend that lead in top of the seventh, and a two-spot in the final frame was enough to hand Ulster Excavating the win.

Bryan Smith belted four singles and had a RBI to lead Ulster Excavating.

Shane Helzer hit four singles and knocked in a run to pace Chatters in the loss.

In E Division action, a Mainetti, Mainetti & O’Connor’s six spot in the bottom of the sixth helped turn a 9-8 deficit into a 1410 victory.

Garrett Stoltz belted two doubles and knocked in two runs, Steve Ackerman hit a double and had three RBI and Nick McCOy hit three singles and had three RBI to lead Mainetti.

Kyle Gribulus hit three singles and Jason Farrell and J.D. Hartwell each hit a double to carry Fromson in the loss.
