Hudson River Maritime Museum seeks docents

WHAT: Volunteer docents wanted WHEN: Weekends from noon to 4p.m. WHERE: Hudson River Maritime Museum, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston

DETAILS: The museum is seeking volunteer docents at the Rondout Lighthouse. Qualified applicants will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the river views while teaching the visiting public about the story of the lighthouse and its keepers. The lighthouse is accessible only by ferry boat that operates from the museum’s dock. The tour groups are small with a maximum of six visitors per trip. Each tour is approximat­ely 30 minutes. Training is provided. Interested applicants should be able to handle boarding the ferry and climbing the stairs at lighthouse, as well as be able to read and retain detailed informatio­n and be comfortabl­e speaking to the general public.

Theater group performs July 23 at Opus 40

WHAT: Theater group performanc­e WHEN: July 23 at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Opus 40 Sculpture Park & Museum, 50 Fite Road, Saugerties

DETAILS: The New York Citybased theatre group Dzieci brings its unique take to Shakespear­e’s “Macbeth.” A riotous Gypsy tribe greets its audience with song and psychic readings, then embarks on its wildly ritualisti­c version of “Macbeth” — called “Makbet.” It’s an immersion beneath the skin of Shakespear­e, and an experience that audiences have said is absolutely liberating!” Tickets are $15. Doors open at 6 p.m. There is lawn seating. Those planning to attend should bring a flashlight.
