BASEBALL Bus Trips Miami Marlins at New York Mets: City of Kingston Parks and Recreation Departmensponsored trip to an Aug. 18 night game (7:10 p.m.) at Citi Field. Camps Senators Baseball Camp: For ages 7-12 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 2428 at SUNY Ulster. Led by Ulster head coach Steven Morse. Camp focuses on basic fundamentals in addition to intense work on learning and improving skills, effective drills and developing proper work habits. Athletes place into groups based on age and ability. Players also have the opportunity to learn about other positions during specialty groups. Coach-to-athlete ration is 1:12. Bring a glove, bat, baseball hat, long athletic pants and footwear (rubber spikes/ sneakers). Catchers should bring chest protector, helmet, shin guards and facemask if they have them. Signups may be done during business hours at the Andy Murphy (Midtown) Neighborhood Center, 467 Broadway, in Kingston or online at www.kingstonparksandrec.org Ages 7-10 meet from 9 a.m.-noon and 1114 from 1-4 p.m. Fee is $65 for City of Kingston residents and $80 for non-city residents. Senators Baseball Camp: For ages 7-12 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 21-25 at SUNY Ulster. Led by Ulster head coach Justin Maxwell. Typical day will include station work, games, competitions, lunch and a basketball documentary. Athletes will play for daily prizes. Awards are handed out for each age group at the end of the week. YMCA offers a 1-week session 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 14-18 at Camp Seewackamano in Shokan. Campers develop mountain bike skills through trail rides and games and spend four days offsite at trail locations (which may include Lippman Park, Ferncliff Forest, Elm Ridge, Lake Minnewaska State Park and others). Basic safety and maintenance as well as environmental responsibilities that come with outdoor recreation are covered. A geared bike in good working order with offroad tires measuring at least 2 inches in width, plus helmet are required. This is an intermediate level program and not intended for beginners.
