Ulster County Office for the Aging offers workshops
KINGSTON, N.Y. » The Ulster County Office for the Aging’s 20th annual “Live, Laugh and Learn,” a day of workshops for seniors ages 60 and older will take place Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster, 94 Mary’s Ave.
Several new workshops are being offered this year, along with some old favorites. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with workshops starting at 9 a.m.
The cost to register is $5. Light refreshments are available during the day. An eat-in turkey or veggie wrap for lunch is available for an additional $3.
Applications for “Live, Laugh and Learn” are available on the Office for the Aging’s website, ulstercoun tyny.gov/aging, at its office at 1003 Development Court in the town of Ulster or by calling (845) 340-3456.
New Alzheimer’s caregiver support group in Hyde Park
A new Alzheimer’s caregiver support group is meeting the third Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 1 Church St.

Memoir-writing workshop starts Aug. 7
Learn how to turn a significant memory into a captivating story at a memoir-writing workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. on three consecutive Mondays beginning Aug. 7.
The workshop at the Center for Healthy Aging, 6529 Springbrook Ave., is open to adults and has no cost. Registration is required. Participants must be able to attend all three sessions.
During each workshop, writing instructor Beverly Sloane will help participants plan, construct and learn more about the tools for writing a vivid story that will bring their memories to life. Allison Gould, a licensed social worker from the Center for Healthy Aging, will support participants as they draw out and explore the emotional and interpersonal aspects of their stories.
“Providing participants with the chance to work with Beverly Sloane, a seasoned memoir writing instructor, to help shape and share their stories in the written form is very unique,” Gould said in a press release. “We are delighted to offer this educational opportunity to our community through the Center for Healthy Aging.”

Senior groups list meeting schedules
The Town of Rosendale Seniors will have an executive board meeting on Wednesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rosendale Recreation Center, Route 32.
A business meeting will follow at 1 p.m.
Reservations are being taken for the Branson Show Extravaganza from Aug. 26 to Sept. 3. The cost is $799 per person, double occupancy.
