Relay for Life events got strong support

- KRISTINE M. REVELLE New Windsor The writer is senior management, community development, for the American Cancer Society’s New Windsor office.

Dear People Editor: On behalf of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, we would like to sincerely thank the 14 communities across the Hudson Valley for their generosity and support.

This year, more than 500 teams participated in Relay For Life events and raised over one million dollars to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives from cancer. Additionally, we are so proud of our young leaders for standing up and taking action for lifesaving change at college events at both Mount Saint Mary and Marist College.

We were honored to welcome and celebrate the lives of 859 cancer survivors, who walked an opening lap and inspired us all. Our luminaria ceremony demonstrated the community’s warmth and strength in honoring survivors and remembering those who are no longer with us.

I would also like to thank the Relay For Life event volunteer leadership teams, team captains and participants who worked so hard to make this year’s events a success. And, of course, thank you to our corporate sponsors for their support, which made all this possible.

Please call us to learn more about Relay. If you have donations that still need to submitted, please send to: American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Dr., New Windsor, N.Y. 12553. To learn more about the Relay For Life movement, visit RelayForLife.org or call (800) 227-2345.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We look forward to continuing work with you to lead the fight for a world without cancer.
