James Paul Quinn, 81, of Tubby Street, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center.

Born May 24, 1936, he was the son of the late Dr. Charles A. and Ellen (May) Quinn.

Growing up in Phoenicia, James enjoyed the sports of hunting and fishing. He was active in the community serving as both Chief and Commission­er of the Phoenicia Fire District and Commission­er of the Phoenicia Water District. He was a life member of the M.F. Whitney Hose Company and a former member of the St. Francis DeSales Parish.

James relocated with his family to Kingston where he was a 33 year employee of IBM and a member of the Quarter Century Club. In his later years, James served Kingston Hospital as part of the security team.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dolores H. (Baschnagel) Quinn, and his sons, Michael T. Quinn of Kingston and David Quinn of Shokan.

His brother, John Quinn, and infant sister, Shiela Quinn, both died previously.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue. www. jv leahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
