The former employee of a brain injury treatment center who sexually abused six patients was sentenced Friday to 46 years in state prison.

Jacky Stanley, 51, of Kingston, was sentenced in Ulster County Court by Judge Donald A. Williams, who also ordered 20 years of post-release supervision, according to the New York Attorney General’s Office, which prosecuted the case.

Stanley was convicted on May 23 of a total of two dozen counts of sexual abuse, committing a criminal sex act, sex abuse, endangering the welfare of an incompe-

tent or physically disabled person and willful violation of health laws for his actions at the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Traumatic Brain Injury on Grant Avenue in the town of Ulster. He was acquitted, though, of four of the most serious counts against him — one count of predatory sexual act and three counts of first-degree criminal sex act.

“These were heinous acts of abuse targeting residents already suffering from traumatic, life-changing injuries,” Attorney General Schneiderman said in a prepared statement Friday. “My office recommended a significant sentence based on the defendant’s proven pattern of sexual abuse. We applaud the bravery of the victims who came forward to bring the defendant to justice.”

All six accusers testified at the four-day trial.

The seven-man, fivewoman jury found that between July 2014 and February 2015, Stanley used his position as a neighborhood counselor at the Northeast Center to gain access to six male patients and forcibly perform sex acts on them.

In finding Stanley not guilty of first-degree criminal sex act, though, the jurors rejected the prosecution’s

claim that Stanley performed oral sex on two of the men by forcible compulsion and that one of the two was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless.

Jurors deliberated for roughly eight hours over two days before handing up their verdict. They convicted Stanley of crimes related to each of the six accusers.

Two of the accusers testified at the trial that Stanley performed oral sex on them; others said he rubbed or tried to touch their genitals.

One accuser testified he was victimized by Stanley on three different occasions.

All six said the abuse occurred in their rooms, shortly after they arrived at the center. One accuser said he was molested the day of his arrival.

In Stanley’s job at the Northeast Center, he was responsible for helping new residents acclimate to the facility. His duties included managing the social environment and ensuring residents participated in their required programs.

Stanley was arrested in July 2016 and initially was charged with abusing two patients at the Northeast Center. He was indicted the following month for abusing six.

Stanley has been in the Ulster County Jail since his arrest and now will be moved to state prison.
