RED HOOK » Joseph A. Trimarco, Sr., 90, of Red Hook, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at his home.

Born on April 15, 1927, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cuozzo) Trimarco. Joseph married Lieselotte “Lilo” Mohr on Sept. 30, 1956, in Yonkers, N.Y., and she predecease­d him on Feb. 16, 2015.

Mr. Trimarco served as Seaman/electricia­n mate for the United States Navy during World War II.

For many years and until his retirement he worked as a dynamo man with NY Central Railroad. Joseph also worked for the MTA and was a member of Teamsters Local 456.

Always active, Joseph was a communican­t of St. Christophe­r’s Church in Red Hook where he was an usher. He was a member of St. Christophe­r’s Holy Name Society, and a member of St. Christophe­r’s Seniors. Joseph was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights’ of Columbus, member of the Red Hook and Southern Tier Seniors, a member of the Beverly Crest Social in Yonkers, N.Y., the Italian City Club along with their Rod and Gun Club, and a former parishione­r of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. He also was a pioneer in the Breads Plus program based out of St. Christophe­r’s Church in Red Hook.

He is survived by his devoted and loving son, Joseph A. Trimarco, Jr., of Red Hook, N.Y., Joseph McCollum of Cold Spring, N.Y., and Eugene McCollum of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; his daughter, Rita Smith of Big Flat, N.Y.; a brother, Phillip Trimarco of Fort Pierce, Fla.; six grandchild­ren, including one who is dear to his heart — Gene Lee McCollum; six great-grandchild­ren, including two who are dear to his heart — Sean and Maddie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

In addition to his wife, he was predecease­d by his siblings: Anthony, Patrick, Gerald, and Alphonse Trimarco, Marie Greene, Virginia Dalessandr­o, Elizabeth Trimarco, Antoinette Tuccio, and Carmella Forlivo.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday, July 31, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at St. Christophe­r’s Church, Red Hook, N.Y. Father Patrick Buckley and Father Xavier Santiago will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Memorial donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the St. Christophe­r’s Church, 7411 S. Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y., 12571.
