Shokan church hosts Vacation Bible School

SHOKAN, N.Y. » A Superhero Vacation Bible School will take place from Monday, Aug. 21, through Friday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reservoir United Methodist Church,, 3056 Route 28.

The school is for everyone from nursery to adult. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., followed by a high-energy opening assembly. Afterward, students will have some superhero fun by creating art projects, exploring the wonders of creation through science and playing games.

There will also be an adult study that covers the same things the children will learn, but at an ageappropr­iate level. The program is free. Register by Friday, Aug. 11, to receive a special back-to-school

package and a free haircut.

Free film series at New Paltz church

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. » The New Paltz United Methodist Church, 1 Grove St., is currently hosting a free film series titled “The Faces of Christ” on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m.

The series will feature more than a dozen films produced from 1912 to 2006. Each week, one film will be shown on the church’s new GIGANTIC 9-foot by 12-foot screen.
