Vanderbilt Mansion hosts formal tea
WHAT: Formal tea WHEN: Sept. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Formal gardens of the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, 119 Vanderbilt Park Road, Hyde Park
DETAILS: The event will be fashioned in the spirit of the early 1900s. It will feature a selection of teas from Harney and Sons, tea sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, cookies and French macarons. The Botticelli Players will provide live music, and Michael Harney from Harney & Sons will be the guest speaker. The beautiful and whimsical Toucan Hats will be available at the tea for viewing and purchasing. Park at the main visitor center parking lot. There is a moderate walk to the gardens. Handicap access is available by prior arrangement. Period clothing wear, party garden wear and fancy hats are encouraged, but not necessary. In the event of heavy rain, the event will be moved to the Wallace Education and Visitor Center at the Franklin D. Roosevelt site. Tickets are $50, $45 for members, and must be purchased in advance. ‘Spamalot’ opens Aug. 10 at Mac-Haydn Theatre
