Dorothy Ann Warfel, 93, died on Aug. 7, 2017.
She was born in Boston, Mass., on July 3, 1924, to Carl and Eleanor (Leutz) Diemer. She was a graduate of the Boston Schools and Burdette School of Business. An avid reader, she worked at a small publishing company and an engineering firm before marrying John D. Warfel of Drifton, Pa., on May 30, 1948. Together they had seven children whom she made her long-term, full-time career of which she was most proud: Eugene (Suzanne) Warfel of Rangeley, Maine, John D. (Joanne) Warfel, Jr., Richard (Jessie) Warfel and Christopher Warfel all of Block Island, R.I.; Eleanor (Michael) Miller of West Monroe, N.Y.; Mari (Wiliam) O’Keefe of Leeds, N.Y.; and Mark (Katie) Warfel of Clinton, N.Y., with whom she lived.
Dorothy and her husband were active members in the Community of God’s Love prayer group, associated with St. Joseph’s Church located in Kingston, N.Y., until their relocation to Clinton. Dorothy will be remembered for her quiet wit and sense of humor, and her love for her family.
She is survived by her children, their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband (2006), her parents, two brothers and one sister.
All are invited to call Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, Marvin Street, Clinton. Her burial will be in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery in Saugerties, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.
