Catskill

· Drugs/fugitive from justice: Nicholas Distano, 49, of Los Angeles, was arrested by state police at Catskill on Friday and charged with the felonies of sale of a controlled substance

(methamphet­amine), possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon (a rifle). Following a joint investigat­ion with village of Catskill police, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, Distano was accused of selling methamphet­amine in the village of Catskill. He was found to be in possession of a rifle and was later determined to be a fugitive from California, where he is wanted for a parole violation, authoritie­s said. Distano was sent to the Greene County Jail without bail.

Saugerties

· DWI: David S. Piskacek, 21, U.S. Route 9W, Saugerties, was arrested by Saugerties police at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday and charged with the misdemeano­rs of driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent and drunken driving, and with failing to stay in lane, an infraction. Piskacek’s arrest followed a traffic accident on U.S. Route 9W in which he drove off the road and struck a utility pole, causing a temporary power outage in the area in the hamlet of West Camp. Piskacek’s blood-alcohol content was 0.14 percent, nearly double the legal limit, authoritie­s said. He was released with a ticket for Saugerties Town Court.

· Drugs: Jason Cintron, 42, of 91 Dock St., Saugerties, was arrested by Saugerties police on Tuesday on John Street in the village and charged with two misdemeano­r counts of possession of a controlled substance. Cintron’s arrest followed a report of a male “acting suspicious while hanging out on John Street” in the village. He was found to be in possession of several controlled substances, said police, who did not identify the drugs involved. Cintron was released with a ticket for Saugerties Village Court.
