» Reverend Roger G. Rosenkrans­e, 71, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born in Kingston on July 18, 1946, he was the son of the late Peter and Hyla (Countryman) Rosenkrans­e.

Roger was raised in Clintondal­e, N.Y. After graduating high school, he earned his Bachelors Degree from SUNY New Paltz. Pastor Rosenkrans­e received many accreditat­ions from Drew University in New Jersey. He served for many years in the Boy Scouts of America, Rip Van Winkle Council. For over 30 years, he was a spiritual director for youth retreats through the Christian group Vida Nueva. He ministered at nursing homes, was chaplain at The Kingston Hospital, and was The Pastor of the Friends Church in Clinton Corners, the Modena Methodist Church, and the Tillson Community Church. Roger retired from active ministry in December of 2009. He was presently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church’s Congregati­on.

Surviving Roger is the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Bonnibelle “Bonni” J. Rosenkrans­e; his mother-inlaw, Barbara Plattner; his sisters, Harriet Gredzinski, Virginia O’Donnell and her husband Francis, Carolyn Wilklow and her husband James; is sisters-in-law, Marlene and Marion Rosenkrans­e; his brother-in-law, Charles Simpson; his god son, Patrick Holly, U.S. Navy; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved friends: Patrick Towne, Patricia Plattner, Roger Todd, Patricia Corcoran, and the members of Trinity Lutheran and Bruderhof Community.

His brothers, Hobart Rosenkrans­e and Peter Rosenkrans­e, Jr.; and sister, Margaret Simpson, all died previously.

The family statement reads: Those whose lives he touched along the way could truly attest to the fact that Pastor Roger lived what he believed. People are more important than things...

Cremation and memorial arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com. Pastor Roger’s memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11 a.m.
