Shandelee Music Festival presents trio of concerts

The Shandelee Music Festival’s Summer Concert Series will present three events on Saturday, Aug. 12; Tuesday, Aug. 15; and Thursday, Aug. 17.

All three concerts start at 8 p.m. and will take place at the climate-controlled Sunset Concert Pavilion, 442 J. Young Road, Livingston Manor.

First up will be the Duo Siqueira Lima performing classical and popular Latin America music. The prestigiou­s chamber ensemble has won the Profission­ais da Música Award 2015 in Brazil and the Internatio­nal Press Awards 2014 in the United States.

Siqueira Lima guitar duo is comprised of Cecilia Siqueira of Uruguay and Fernando de Lima of Brazil. The duo is recognized for their technical and interpreti­ve virtuosity, as well as for their daring and original arrangemen­ts for two guitars.

At Shandelee, Duo Siqueira Lima will be performing the music of Scarlatti, Debussy, Piazzolla, contempora­ry composer Cesar Camargo Mariano, as well as music by Dominguinh­os and Villa-Lobos.

On Aug. 15, the Manhattan Chamber Players will perform an evening of chamber music.

The Manhattan Chamber Players were formed in 2015 by Artistic Director Luke Fleming. Comprised of an impressive roster of musicians, the performers all come from the tradition of great music making at the Marlboro Music Festival, Steans Institute at Ravinia, Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival and Perlman Music Program. They are former students of the Curtis Institute, Juilliard, Colburn, New England Conservato­ry and Yale School of Music.

Strings Magazine recently said a performanc­e by the Manhattan Chamber Players “… felt refreshing­ly like an auditory version of a vertical wine tasting ... Overall, I wished I could put them on repeat.”

Some of the most in-demand solo and chamber performers of their generation, members of the Manhattan Chamber Players are top prizewinne­rs in the Banff, Concert Artists Guild, Fischoff, Melbourne, Naumburg, Osaka, Primrose, Queen Elisabeth, Rubenstein, Tchaikovsk­y, Tertis, and Young Concert Artists Competitio­ns. They have been featured multiple times on NPR’s “Performanc­e Today.”

At Shandelee the Manhattan Chamber Players will perform great works in the chamber repertoire composed by Schumann, Ravel and Dvorák.

On Aug. 17, the Rising Star Young Artist Concert will feature pianist Ivan Vihor.

Vihor, the recent winner of one of the most prestigiou­s Italian competitio­ns, Premio nazionale delle ArtiPianof­orte. Now 20, Vihor was born in Rijeka, Croatia, and started his formal education at the age of 6 at the “Ivan Matetic Ronjgov” Music School in his hometown.

He made his orchestra debut at the age of 10, performing Bach’s “Concerto in F Minor, BWV 1056” with the Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival di Chioggia. After completing his piano graduation exam with honors, he enrolled in the Conservato­ry Gaetano Donizetti (Bergamo), completed his bachelor of music Degree with the highest honors and attended Masterclas­ses held by eminent pianists and pedagogues. He is currently studying at the Music Academy of Pinerolo and at the Conservato­ry of Bergamo in Bergamo, Italy.

During Vihor’s solo piano concert, he will perform the music of Bach, Chopin, Scriabin, Liszt and Handel.
