The following items are based on information provided by officials in law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
City of Kingston
• Tampering/drugs: Willie J. Royal, 39, of Accord, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 9 p.m. Wednesday on Plaza Road and was charged with tampering with physical evidence by concealing or destroying it, a felony; and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Royal was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail pending a City Court appearance.
Catskill
• DWI: Michael J. Scheir, 44, of Athens, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 10:03 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 9W in the town and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. Scheir was released with a ticket for Catskill Town Court.
Gardiner • DWI:
Elizabeth A. Considine, 56, of Wallkill, was arrested by state police at Wawarsing at 11:32 p.m. Thursday on state Route 208 and was charged with drunken driving and aggravated drunken driving, both felonies. Considine was released with a ticket for Gardiner Town Court.
Lloyd
• Obstructing governmental administration: Sherwood M. Thomas, 57, of Highland, was arrested by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies at 1:30 a.m. Thursday and was charged with obstructing governmental administration and aggravated unlicensed driving, both misdemeanors, and was ticketed for speeding, two counts of failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at a stop sign, three counts of failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, two counts of failure to signal, unlicensed operator, and failure to obey a police officer, all infractions. Deputies said Thomas refused to pull over and led deputies on a low-speed pursuit. After his vehicle was stopped, it was determined Thomas was driving with a revoked license. He was released with a ticket for Lloyd Town Court.
• Grand larceny: Frank W. Benjamin, 59, of Kingston, was arrested by state police at Highland at 3:10 p.m. Thursday at the state police barracks at 212 state Route 299, Highland, and was charged with grand larceny, a felony. Benjamin was released with a ticket for Lloyd Town Court. Further information was unavailable.
New Paltz
• DWI: Kyle B. LeBlanc, 26, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested by state police at Highland on state Route 32 in the town at 2:30 a.m. Friday and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. LeBlanc was released with a ticket for New Paltz Town Court.
Wawarsing
• Drugs: Christopher P. Vero, 27, of Massapequa, was arrested by state police at Wawarsing at 7:08 p.m. Thursday at 7500 U.S. Route 209 and was charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Vero was released with a ticket for Wawarsing Town Court.
