Waffling, pandering the norm for Rep. Faso

Dear Editor, In a letter to the editor, “LETTER: U.S. Rep. John Faso waffles on health care,” March 28, 2017, I pointed out the waffling position of U.S. Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, on the health care debate.

His campaign literature demanding “repeal and replace” of Obamacare morphed into a major statement on Feb. 23 supporting “reform and fix.”

Then he supported Trumpcare II, which clearly repealed Obamacare by defunding it.

When Trumpcare II failed to pass the House, he made statements again supporting “repair.”

Since then, there has been more waffling and, by this time, his political pandering is obviously his norm. More recently, he was one of two, lastminute, critical, House swing votes to “repeal and replace” that gave us still another iteration of Trumpcare. His vote to repeal allowed the debate to go to the Senate and we all know how unpopular that version ended up, having been called “mean” by the president himself.

Now Faso is making sounds like he will support “fixing” Obamacare. While I applaud this “position,” I am very skeptical. New York, and the whole country for that matter, would be in a better place if the 19th Congressional District had an ethical representative with principles that he stuck to. Faso is not that person.
