Robert E. ‘Bob’ Ferrigan, 85, of Kingston

Robert E. “Bob” Ferrigan, 85, of Kingston, N.Y., passed peacefully Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at his residence. He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Queens, N.Y., the son of the late Thomas and Blanche (Mitchell) Ferrigan.

Bob was a graduate of Jamaica High School and served in the military for 20 years. First, in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and then in the Army National Guard, 156th Artillery, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (E-7).

Bob was employed by IBM in Kingston for 19 years. He also served as the Town Judge for the Town of Kingston for 18 years. Also, for many years, Bob was the Town Republican Party Chairman. He was later employed as District Attorney Investigat­or for 20 years, working for DA Francis J. Vogt and DA Michael Kavanagh, and finally retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 275, Kingston, was also a 4th Degree Knight and served in the Color Corps. Bob was a lifetime member of the Sawkill Fire Company and has served as a Fire Commission­er. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and was President of the Local Chapter of Blue Knights Internatio­nal Motorcycle Club — an internatio­nal police motorcycle club, and served on the Board of Directors for many years. He was a car enthusiast and was a member of the 1st Capital Corvette Club and the Red Hook Classic Car Club. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Division I. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne M. Ferrigan of Kingston; his children, Robert and his wife Elaine of Kingston, Kathy and her husband Mark Eggers of Saratoga, and Kevin and his wife Terri of Baldwinsvi­lle; his nieces, Dr. Arleen Multhauf and her husband Jim, Karen Cuccurullo and her husband John, and Joanne Barnhardt and her husband Dave; 10 grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren.

Bob was predecease­d by a son, Brian J. Ferrigan; his brothers, Raymond and Vincent Ferrigan; and sister, Blanche Mackie.

Donations can be made in Bob’s name to the Sawkill Fire Co., 896 Sawkill Road, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. On Wednesday at 9 a.m, the procession will form at the funeral home. At 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Sawkill.

Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, with military honors provided by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386, VFW.
