Linda M. Donaldson, 70, of Marbletown

-

Linda M. (Kernan) (Peters) Donaldson, 70, of Marbletown, as Lin would say, on June 15, 2017, Linda caught her “Shooting Star” and left the rest of us for a time, earth bound. Lin had fought a 40-year battle with Myasthenia Gravis and ultimately succumbed to the complications caused by the medical treatment necessary to control that disease. She lived life to its fullest, with a joy that few can match, and passion that few will achieve.

She was born and raised on Long Island and moved to the Hudson Valley in 1972. She became a Registered Nurse, working first in “The Blues” Nursing home, then SUNY Health Unit at New Paltz, holding many positions at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, N.Y., and leaving in 2001 to go to Vassar Hospital as evening supervisor until having to retire for medical reasons in 2014.

A loving wife, mother (and step-mom), grandmother and friend to so many, Lin spent the last few years making everyone’s life better. On the last days of her life on Earth, she requested and received visits of friends who lived close enough to be able to visit, so that she could say a proper goodbye, while her family was close by, supporting her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Robert D. (Bob) Donaldson; her son, Dennis J. Peters (Maria) of Pleasantville, N.Y.; stepdaughters, Tiffany Lopes (Joseph) of Waterville, Maine, and Caroline Campbell, of Waterville, Maine; and stepsons, Robert E. Donaldson (Loana), Waterford, N.Y.,, and Christopher Donaldson (Diana), Cottekill, N.Y. Several grandchildren also survive.

Her parents, Richard and Marie Kernan, have predeceased her.

Linda wants to be remembered for her love of her family, her love of her “best friends,” Doogie and Percy, her love of the birds we would spend hours watching and her love of the sky, which she would gaze at through her telescope and astronomical binoculars for hours.

Linda did not believe in wakes or funerals. “Too sad for me,” she would say. Instead we plan a “Celebration of The Life of Linda.” Final arrangements are being made for Sept. 30, 2017. If you are not on the list to attend yet and wish to participate or simply attend, please get your contact information to her husband at rdonaldson91943@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donation you would like in her memory to any agency that supports the best interest of animals that are neglected.
