Hope Rocks, Voorheesville RACES ON SATURDAY
You have two really great options for road races this coming Saturday with the Hope Rocks Festival 5k/10k in Saugerties and the Voorheesville 5k in that southern Albany County town.
The race in Saugerties, which is just one part of the festival that is spreading awareness and education about the devastating effects of addiction and suicide, both start at 10 a.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at the Cantine Memorial Field Complex in Saugerties.
Entry fee to run is $25 and afterwards, participants are invited to stick around for the daylong, free festival that features food and craft vendors, music and exhibits by county service providers.
Just up the road a piece in Voorheesville, veteran race director Phil Carducci hosts the Voorheesvile 5k, starting and finishing at the high school.
I have personally competed in this race myself and it is an enjoyable run in the neighborhood in and around the school, the course laid out as one giant loop.
Entry fee is $18 for pre-registered runners and $25 on race day.
There is also an accompanying 2k walk, with both events starting at 9 a.m.
