Hannaford opens next week on Route 375
The 26,000-square-foot grocery store will operate in the former Hurley Ridge Market space.
The former Hurley Ridge Market on state Route 375 will reopen as a Hannaford supermarket next week.
The 26,000-square-foot store at 295 Route 375 will open to customers Aug. 30 and have a grand-opening celebration Sept. 2.
The Sept. 2 event, starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 a.m., will include free gift cards (randomly valued between $5 and $250) for the first 200 customers, product sampling and door prizes.
Hannaford said it will mark its grand opening by presenting $10,000 in donations to the community — $5,000 each to the Onteora Central School District and the Good Neighbor Food Pantry.
“Hannaford is excited to join the West Hurley community,” store manager Debbie Allison said in a prepared statement. “At our store, customers will find great food, everyday low prices and the service that people expect from Hannaford. We also intend to be a community resource, a spot where customers run into friends and neighbors.”
The Hurley Ridge Market closed last month after operating as an independent grocery store for nearly two decades.
The property has been bought by Warwick-based Southern Realty and Development, which is leasing the space to Hannaford
Hannaford Supermarkets is based in Scarborough, Maine, and reports having more than 26,000 employees about 180 stores in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The West Hurley store will be the 50th Hannaford in New York state and the fifth in Ulster County. The company’s other Ulster County stores are in the city of Kingston and the towns of Ulster, Lloyd and Plattekill.
