Actor Bill Pullman will receive the Woodstock Film Festival’s Excellence in Acting Award at this year’s festival, organizers announced on Tuesday.

Pullman will be honored during the festival’s awards ceremony Oct. 14 at BSP on Wall Street in Uptown Kingston. He also is to participate in the festival’s annual Actor’s Dialogue on Oct. 15 in Woodstock.

Also, the festival will screen the film “The Ballad of Lefty Brown,” in which Pullman plays the title character.

Pullman — who has appeared in such movies as “A League Of Their Own,” “Independence Day,” “Ruthless People,” “Sleepless In Seattle” and “Spaceballs” — said in a prepared statement that he was “honored to be receiving the Excellence in Acting Award at this year’s Woodstock Film Festival.”

“I am particularly looking forward to screening ‘The Ballad of Lefty Brown’ ... an unusually intimate Western that is the comingof-age story of a 60-something sidekick. It was shot in the fall in Montana, so we can see how it stacks up against the foliage colors in Woodstock — both so spectacular,” he added.

Woodstock Film Festival Executive director Meira Blaustein called Pullman “one of the finest and most versatile actors today.”

“It is a privilege to recognize his diverse body of work at this year’s festival, and we look forward to having him here with us this fall,” she said in a prepared statement.

The festival previously announced that this year’s Maverick Award will go to actor, producer and activist Susan Sarandon, and the Trailblazer Award will go to music manager and film producer Shep Gordon. Those awards, like Pullman’s, will be presented Oct. 14 at BSP in Kingston.
