Mary Ellen Queen, 78, of Rhinebeck

Mary Ellen Queen, formerly of Rhinebeck, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Albany Medical Center.

Born on Nov. 27, 1938, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Nellie (Baldwin) Mergendahl Sr.

Mary Ellen attended Rhinebeck Schools and on March 23, 1957, at the United Methodist Church of Rhinebeck, she married Stuart R. Queen Sr. Mr. Queen survives at home.

She was a life member of the Rhinecliff Fire Department and a member of the Rhinebeck Grange No. 896.

In addition to her husband, Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters, Sheri (Donald) Flemming of Hershey, Pa., and Jan (Vincent) Doolittle of Granville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Rugar of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and brothers, Eugene, David, and Robert.

She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

There are no calling hours.

A private service will be held at Rhinebeck Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
