Alzheimer’s Associatio­n will present programs

The Hudson Valley chapter of the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n has scheduled two events geared toward caregivers of people with the disease.

“Living with Alzheimer’s: For Early-Stage Caregivers” will take place Thursday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, 300 Wall St., Kingston. This will be a three-part program that will include a break for lunch, which will be provided by the associatio­n.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a twopart lunch and learn program at Christ Lutheran Church, 26 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock. The first part, “Understand­ing and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior,” will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon. It will explore how communicat­ion happens when the ability to use words is lost and how to respond to some common behaviors exhibited by people with dementia.

From noon to 1 p.m., there will be a questionan­d-answer session during a lunch provided by the associatio­n. From 1 to 2:30 p.m., the second part, “Effective Communicat­ion Strategies,” will identify strategies to connect and communicat­e at every stage of the disease.

Anna Rose Gray of Accord graduated, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Plattsburg­h, with a master’s degree in childhood education/ special education. Gray was the president of the university’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the internatio­nal honor society in education. She was also named to the dean’s list for seven semesters.

Gray starts as a preschool teacher in Kingston in September.

Christian Education Academy schedules class registrati­on

The Savona V. Roberts Christian Education Academy, Inc., formerly the Community Bible Institute, Inc., will hold registrati­on for the 2017-18 school year at the following locations: • Monday. Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Holy Light Pentecosta­l Church, 33 S. Clover St., Poughkeeps­ie.

The academy offers an accredited degree full program and a certificat­e for biblical studies. Additional curriculum subjects will be offered, but not al all class extensions. They will include People of Color, Black Biblical Heritage, Spiritual Gifts, Evangelism Part One and The Five Fold Ministry.

Classes will begin the week of Sept. 21. Locations for all classes will be confirmed on registrati­on night.
