Clifford William ‘Bill’ Bouton of Saugerties

Clifford William “Bill” Bouton of Saugerties, N.Y., died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017.

Born in Albany, N.Y., Bill was the son of the late Ervin and Gertrude Merwin Bouton.

He attended Berne Knox Westerlo High School. Following high school, Bill entered the Armed National Guard. At an early age, Bill would help on his sister Roses’s and brotherin-law Norm’s vegetable farm. Bill started working for the Davey Tree Company in 1963, was a 1966 graduate of the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences, and retired as District Manager after 43 years.

Throughout his life he enjoyed hiking, gardening, landscapin­g, being involved in the church, and he adored his family.

In addition to his parents, Bill was also predecease­d by his brothers, James and Timothy and four sisters, Dorothy, Edna, Bertha, and Ethel.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Tina Porter Bouton and his daughters, Monica Poitras (Larry) and Danielle Bouton-Wales (Bill); as well as his grandson, Benjamin Poitras; stepgrandc­hildren, Eric and Danielle Wales; three sisters, Rose Grounds, Myrtle Bouton, and Beverly Morey; and two brothers, Irving Bouton, John Bouton. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, with a service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sacandaga Bible Conference, 191 Lakeview Road, Broadalbin, N.Y., 12025, where Bill and later his grandson spent time at the camp as a child and Bill continued to support throughout his life.
